You are spoilt for choice when you visit Ohakune. The volcanoes of the Tongariro National Park, UNESCO World Heritage Areas, Mt Ruapehu, Mt Ngauruhoe, and Mt Tongariro offer outdoor enthusiasts a playground of activities all within a stones throw from Station Lodge. The National Park is not only the snow sports mecca of the North Island but is also an excellent place for tramping, mountain biking, canoeing and lots more. 


Mountain Biking

Ohakune Old Coach Road and The Bridge to Nowhere track should not be missed. The Mountains to Sea cycle trail also starts from Ohakune and is an excellent multi day cycle.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing

Experience New Zealand's best day walk in the oldest National Park and Dual World Heritage Site.

Ski On An Active Volcano

Mt Ruapehu has two premier ski fields, Whakapapa and Tūroa that boasts magnificent areas for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. 

Whanganui River Journey

One of New Zealand's Great Walks and the scenic Whanganui River offers 1 - 5 day canoe trips. 


The Bridge to Nowhere

1 Day jet boat and canoe trip to the famous Bridge to Nowhere in the Whanganui National Park.

The highest waterfall in the Tongariro National Park. A 15 min drive from Station Lodge and 45 min one way walk.

Take the Sky Waka gondola to New Zealand's highest Cafe and enjoy stunning views over Whakapapa ski field, Mount Ngauruhoe  and Mount Tongariro.

Lord of the Rings

Take in the sights of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit film location in the Tongariro National Park.
