For trampers, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and Lake Surprise  is a must!

Ohakune Old Coach Rd &  the Mangapurua/Bridge to Nowhere Track should not be missed; you will not be disappointed.  The Mountains to Sea cycle trail also starts from Ohakune, which is an excellent multi-day cycle.
